| Description |
If you've ever
been in "stop and go" commuter
traffic, you may have had an opportunity to wonder, "What
kind of person would dare put that outrageous bumper sticker
on their car?" Have you ever strained your neck to
get a look at the woman who put "My other car is a
broom" on her bumper? Or have you actually hoped the
light would turn red so you could see the man willing to
offend the "parking gods" by putting "metermaids
eat their young" on his car? Here's your chance to
get to know them intimately.
Author Carol Gardner took to the road for two years collecting
the most hilarious and intriguing bumper stickers in America
and interviewing the people behind them. Bumper Sticker
Wisdom: America's Pulpit Above the Tailpipe is an outrageously
funny photo album of "not ready for prime time" American
heroes and heroines. But be forewarned: bumper sticker voyeurism
can become addictive.

Carol W. Gardner spent several years collecting her stories
from the highways and byways of America. Her criterion for
choosing her candidates? The bumper sticker had to make her
think, laugh, or wonder.
Before chasing bumper stickers across America, Carol worked
as an art director and creative director for advertising
agencies in both San Francisco and New York. She feels that
Bumper Sticker Wisdom captures a slice of America that parallels
the advertising "one-liners" she has worked with
over the past two decades. Carol, her husband, and her fifteen-year-old
son live on a historic ranch they have restored in central
Oregon.
Carol is donating a percentage of the proceeds to Mothers
Against Drunk Driving (MADD®). |
