Joyce Hawkes, Ph.D., a biophysicist, past Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, and Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, has earned an international reputation for her scientific contributions in the field of ultra high-speed laser effects on cells. Following a near-death-experience she changed careers in 1984 and embarked on an extensive exploration of spiritual and healing traditions. Working and studying alongside renowned native healers, Dr. Hawkes spent three months living in the Philippines and expanded her studies to include additional Southeast Asian healing traditions. A month-long stay in South India and six trips to Bali to work intensively with two native Hindu priests/shamans immersed her in Eastern philosophy and practice. Today, Dr. Hawkes keeps a busy private practice as the founder of Healing Associates.
