Lane Nemeth was born and reared in New York City. She received
a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh
and a master's degree in education from Seton Hall University.
Soon after, she became the director of a children's day-care
center, where she was impressed by the high quality and developmental
value of the center's toys and games.
After the birth of her daughter, tara, Ms. Nemeth realized
these same products were not available commercially. That
was the beginning of Discovery Toys. Starting in Martinez,
California, as a home-based business using her garage as
a warehouse, Ms. Nemeth developed her two-fold mission. The
company would provide educational products that develop life
skills and encourage positive interaction between parents
and children. Secondly, Ms. Nemeth knew her company could
provide a lucrative career opportunity to parents who sought
the kind of flexibility that would allow them to stay at
home with their children.
Over the next two decades, Ms. Nemeth's unwavering commitment
to the mission, indomitable entrepreneurial spirit, and limitless
creativity have propelled Discovery Toys to success. Today,
Discovery Toys is headquartered in livermore, California,
in spacious building that houses its corporate offices, distribution,
and service centers.
Ms. Nemeth has received broad recognition for her accomplishments
including an award from the National Association of Women
Business Owners. Twice recognized by Working Woman as one
of their "Top 50 Business Women," she has been
profiled in major media from NBC's prestigious Today morning
program to the highly respected publication, Nation's Business.
She regularly serves as a featured speaker at national child
development, business, and leadership seminars including
the Stanford Leadership Academy |
